Wind Speed
I found a great little iPhone application at the weekend, an anemometer which works by measuring the sound the wind makes going into the microphone. I was a little sceptical about how accurate this can be but having a read around various forums seems to suggest it is amazingly accurate. The screenie below is from Wind Speed (Broken link
http://www.sis.si/iphone/wind-speed/) which is the one I’m currently using but I’ve found another one called Wind Meter too.I figure this could come in handy if I ever start to fly model gliders again, worth £1.19 of my money any day!

Finished Frog Redwing
Finally got around to finishing it. The rubber which was included in the kit has since perished (I’ve had it on the shelf that long!). I’m going to order up some more from Mikes Free Flight Supplies, then I’ll be able to get out and fly it.

Enabling vmware-tools clock sync from inside the guest
Just found out how to turn on vmware-tools clocking syncing from inside the guest, rather than editing the .vmx file on the host.
Once you have vmware-tools installed and configured try this:
/usr/sbin/vmware-guestd --cmd "vmx.set_option synctime 0 1"
To verify this has worked look for this line in the corresponding .vmx file:
tools.syncTime = "TRUE"

Addictive little iPhone game
Whilst relaxing down here on the IOW, I’ve found (thanks to @yankcrime) what I think is, so far my favorite iPhone game. Its called Flight Control (Broken link
http://www.firemint.com/flightcontrol/) from Firemint (Broken link ~~http://www.firemint.com/~~). According to their background (Broken linkhttp://www.firemint.com/flightcontrol/background.html) info it started out as a Christmas Vacation coding exercise, well it was worth it. I’m utterly addicted, and how the hell the bloke in the video (Broken linkhttp://www.firemint.com/flightcontrol/video.html) gets a high score of 96, I’ll never know. You can find it in the App Store (Broken linkhttp://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=306220440&mt=8)Screenshot of Flight Control, the iPhone game

vmrun - Control VMware Fusion from the command line
I’ve just needed to snapshot a virtual machine running under VMware Fusion on my Mac but I only had SSH access. I’ve discovered the vmrun utility which is hidden away in XXX. VMware have a PDF of how to use it here. Very handy!

Febrary 21 & 22 - Double Eagle
We have a clear winner so far! This thing flies amazingly well. Will happily fly 8 to 9 meters across the office. Amazing!

February 17 - Glider
The consensus is that this is the best flyer so far. Glides very nicely, with a little twist to the back it can be made to fly a nice gentle circuit.
